The beginning of a new quarter...


Week of October 15-19, 2012

Día de la Raza es el nombre con que se denominó inicialmente 
en la mayoría de los países hispanoamericanos la fiesta del 12 de
 octubre en conmemoración del avistamiento de tierra por el 
marinero Rodrigo de Triana en 1492, luego de haber navegado 
más de dos meses al mando de Cristóbal Colón a lo que 
posteriormente se denominaría América.
Esta fiesta conmemorativa se mantiene en general en Hispano-
américa, aunque muchos países le han dado otros nombres, 
como Día de la Hispanidad, en España, o Día del Respeto 
a la Diversidad Cultural, en Argentina.
La fecha marca el nacimiento de una nueva identidad producto 
del encuentro y fusión de los pueblos originarios del continente 
americano y los colonizadores españoles.

Nacimiento de Francisco Morazán

3 de OCTUBRE DECRETO No. 49

EL CONGRESO NACIONAL

CONSIDERANDO: Que la institución de las armas constituye el fundamento sostenedor de las naciones,
y que en nuestra patria está representada por el soldado hondureño;

CONSIDERANDO: Que es un deber del Estado rendir homenaje a la memoria de los ciudadanos ilustres

que sacrificaron su vida por la Patria, que, como el General Francisco Morazán, murió por sostener la
Unión de Centro América;

CONSIDERANDO: Que el prócer hondureño General Francisco Morazán, es modelo insuperable del

pundonor, abnegación y sacrificio,

POR TANTO,
DECRETA:

Artículo 1°- Declárese “Día del Soldado Hondureño”, el tres de octubre, aniversario del nacimiento del

General “Francisco Morazán”.

Artículo 2°- Este Decreto empezará a regir desde el día de su promulgación.

Dado en Tegucigalpa, D.C., en el Salón de Sesiones, a cinco de febrero de mil novecientos cuarenta y dos.(f) Plutarco Muñoz, Presidente. (f) Vicente Cáceres, Secretario. (f) Fernando Zepeda, Secretario.
